There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of amenities aside from the casino, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
