Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that highlights many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
